Volunteer With Us
Volunteers are the backbone of our shop. Almost entirely run by local volunteers, the shop reinvests profits into its running costs for the benefit of the community.
A small elected committee oversees operations, supported by over 50 volunteers who help staff the shop on a rota, all under the guidance of our full-time Shop Manager, Inka. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds have come together, making the store a genuine reflection of village life.
Volunteering here has created new connections across the village, reducing isolation and building community spirit. Whatever your schedule or skills, there’s likely a volunteering role to suit you.
We are always looking for more volunteers—join us and be part of something special.

Volunteers moving the shop back into the original premises
Meet New People
Meet new people and make friends. Whether chatting to customers in the shop or volunteering alongside others in the village, you will have a chance to be social and meet people from across the community.
Have Fun
Have fun. The volunteering team has a number of social events and volunteering in the shop is made as easy and fun as possible.
Learn New Skills
Learn new skills. A volunteering role is a good chance to learn and develop new skills.
Do Good
Do good by keeping the shop. Without volunteers we wouldn’t have a shop. By volunteering you will ensure you and others can take advantage of a local shop.
How can you volunteer?
Typically our volunteers take shifts working in the shop. This involves working the till, stocking the shelves and general day to day tasks.
We provide full training and you will be on shift with a more experienced volunteer or one of our managers initially to ensure you can learn the ropes.
An average shift is 2 hours. Many volunteers take one shift per week, some every other week and some as and when they have time. To take a shift you select it on our WhatsApp rota – so you have the control of when you volunteer with us.
We also have a range of other volunteering opportunities in other areas such as marketing, maintenance, committee members and events.

How do I apply?
You can register your interest in volunteering by popping into the shop and chatting to any of our volunteers or one of our management team. They will take your details and pass them onto our volunteer co-ordinator, Catherine, who will be in touch.
